Another long and noisy night on the train, thin time no first class, but a normal class with fan. So cold, I couldn't sleep all night and we also arrived very early in the morning at the train station... But we met Laura, an Italian girl traveling by herself, Erika an american girl that ca speaks a good Italian a few more travelers... Nice company. I couldn't wait to find an accommodation to have a shower and sleep a little bit. After a bit of rest we had lunch with Indian food and a bit of walk around some temples... The best time is the sunset 'cause the color of the stone get a bright red. We walked throughout a small village... Helping us there's Anjul a local guy that we met with couchsurfing.org, he's explaining to us everything as a real guide. Tomorrow I feel like is goinmg to be a big day... Visiting the biggest temples of the Kama Sutra.

Wake up at 5 o'clock... Get the backpack with the camera ready... And walk down the narrow streets to reach the Ganga river... The cerimony is already on... People are taking bath... A bit of teeth brushing... a bit of laundry. It's already busy of people out there... We found a boat man and like all tourists do we went to see the sunrise from the river... It's an amazing view... 200 Rupees for two people... It's a bit crowded of boats, everyone is taking photos. But it's really nice to see! The atmophere is magic, like last night at the Ghats Aarti the ritual that the do every night at 6.30. You just have to take your seats on the stairs and be part of it!

6.05 pm we have the train to Khajuraho, the Kama Sutra Temple.

The train arrived at 7 in the morning in Murgalsarai.. I think I slept alot pretty much all night even on of the men in the next bed was snoring so much.. But anyway! We are in the city now.. The guesthouse it's a very basic e indian style.. Hot shower, but it's easier to use the backet! The bed is futon style... Some geko on the wall and we need to keep the window close for the monkeys. We'll think to stay here about 3 or 4 days!

Worst than an italian 3rd class, even if we prefered to pay a bit more to book a kind of 1st class AC... The couch is pretty smelly.. I dont want to talk about the "rest room"! There are 4 beds, 2 for me and Francesco, one for one indian man that is watching some loud video music and singing, and actually before is was also talking with a lady-boy, in the lower bed there's a man with long grey bearb, very gentle and speaks good english and a bit of spain... Looks like he's doing some meditation or Yoga sitting with legs cross! It's just 6.52 pm and we still have more than 12 hours!

We woke up in Darjeeling this morning at about 7and we checked out our room at the Tranquility hotel. Another cup of tea... Actually... I had a cup of caffè made with an Italian Style machine (moca!) and milk. Was nice to walk thru the city in early morning... Not many people around, only some market ladies and the men working to fix some streets. We left Darjeeling at about 10.30 on a sharing taxi! It's always nice to travel with local people, the always want to talk with us in a not very understandable english... But sometimes they speak better than me! :)With 408 Rupees it's possible to book all seats to be more confy, otherwise you have to squeeze with other 3 or maybe more people. In about 3 hours we where at the train station... Some funny situations always happen like the rickshaw driver that we had to get from the Siliguri taxi stop to the station. He was a bit crazy and grumpy put at the end he took us to the right spot! At 5.45 pm our train leaves to go to Varanisi. We have 15 hours trip... I hope the train is alright!!!

Traveling in North India

Has been almost a month traveling from South to North India. At the moment I'm in Darjeeling at 2000 mt of altitude. It's a small city on top of the mountain. There's not much to to up here... There are alot of small shops, few markets, many hotels and if is clear sky the view is amazing. It's possible to see all the Himalaya Range, included the Everest if it is very clear. But after couple of days is becoming a bit boring. We been in Sikkim last week... Amazing!!! Even if is part of India, you need to do a 7 days permit to get in, but you can always extend it when you arrive in Gangtok, the capital. It's shame that the North Sikkim is interrupt for the earthquake that they had a month ago. But our first stop was Aritar, a small village on the East. Very nice to be in the green and fresh mountain after spend few days in the hot and humid Kokata. Good food, nice people and more oxygen!!! We enjoyed the place for about two days and that we decided to catch a sharing tax-jeep to reach Gangtok. Lovely town also on the hill. There's no traffic in the square so it's nice to take a walk looking the market. If you are luck at the early morning you can have a view from your window on the third highest mountain in the world: the Kanchejunga. But if is not possible to visit the North of the country a beautiful place is Pelling. It's about five hours driving from the capital, up and down and the road conditions are not the best. But in the forest on top of rice and tea fields there this little touristic village. There a good choice of hotels and guest houses but the best you'll see in the morning when the manager of the hotel knock at your room door. look outside... It's stunning, unbelievable, indescribable... The big peak is just there: The Kanchejunga. Breathtaking! WOW! Enjoy the scenic view.
Ther're many trekking routs to do. Many agency organize tours and adventures on the Himalaya. A good start-point is Yoksum a small village nice to taste Yak's cheese and enjoy the buddhist culture. It's all surrounded by Tibetan flags... A nice and colorful atmosphere.

Next stop, Varanasi...
